Why should I trust you with my passport? Why do you use a PO Box?

We understand that there may be some hesitation about sending your documents to a PO Box, however, we only use a PO Box for purposes of speed and security.

First, we do not have to wait for the postman to call - we go to collect the mail as soon as the delivery office opens at 8am every morning.

Secondly, the Royal Mail staff know us, and will only hand over items from the PO Box to us. There is no risk of items being misdelivered or signed for by an unauthorised party.

Thirdly, all cheques are made payable to Chinese Visa Direct and not to an individual. All of your cheques can only be cashed by us. You can rest assured that we have gone through bank security procedures so they know that we are a bona fide company.

Fourthly, we are a limited company - you can check us out on the Companies House database. We are also ATOL bonded.

Finally, our office address is no secret - see our CONTACT page for more details. You are more than welcome to hand deliver your documents (in which case, we will provide tea and biscuits!) or organise a courier to do so.

If you remain in any doubt, pick up the phone and ask the give us a call.

2.
I am concerned about identity fraud. What can you do to assure me?

You can trust us for the reasons above. in addition, we give you the following assurances:

First, we only use your personal details as provided for the purposes of applying for a visa on your behalf. We do not use your details for any other purpose nor pass them on to any third party.

Secondly, we do not ask or have any of your bank or credit card details. We use Google Checkout to process credit card payments and as a result, we never see your credit card details.

What you should be careful of is companies who ask for your credit card details, specimen signature and security code from the back of your card. By giving this information, you are exposed to potential fraudulent transactions on your card. Never send this information out unless ordering online via an automated online payment system. Google Checout are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Millions of users can't be wrong!

How long can I get a Chinese Visa for? UPDATED 7th AUG 2008

This is dependent upon your travel itinerary and the Chinese Embassy's own assessment.

FOR SINGLE ENTRY TOURIST VISAS

If you have a return flight booking for 7 days stay in China, you will be most likely granted a visa allowing you to remain in China for 10 days.

If you have a return flight booking for 23 days, you will most likely get a visa of 30 days' duration. It all depends.

FOR DOUBLE ENTRY TOURIST VISAS

You now need return flights for both intended visits to China. Your visa will be of the duration required for your stay on the longer of the two trips - so if your first trip lasts 5 days and the second lasts 15 days, you will get a double entry visa allowing you to stay in China for a maximum of 20 days each time.

FOR BUSINESS VISAS

The duration will depend upon what is in your visa notification form. Whether single, double or multi, you will be able to stay in China for the length of time requested in the visa notification form for each trip. Remember, for double entry business visas, you still need to show return flights for both of your intended visits. The loophole is that if you are able to apply for a multi entry visa (ie you have obtained at least two prior business visas in the past) you only need to show one return flight ticket.

Please contact us if in doubt.

What is a Tibet visa and do you do them?

Although Tibet is part of China, you need more than just a Chinese visa to enter Tibet. You need approval to enter Tibet. You can only get this approval from mainland China, for example, in Beijing.

We recommend you contact the Tourist Bureau of Tibet for more information (Telephone: 86-891-633-4313; Fax: 86-891-633-4632)
